There was a time in this country not so long ago that all Americans spoke out about wasteful government spending, no matter what their political affiliation. What makes now so different?
Remember Big Bush's "No New Taxes" campaign? We knew that was a crock, but it got him elected. And we didn't like his tax increases. Then comes Clinton, more taxes, more social programs, more government. We didn't like that either. Then came Lil' Bush. Wow! More spending and even bigger government topped off with an unfavorable war. Yes, we all complained about it all. Every one of these administrations and it didn't matter whether there was an (R) or a (D) behind their names. Now we have Obama and he has been the quintessential big spender, bigger government in the shortest amount of time, clown in the White House.
It is one thing to slip a little in here and a little in there, but this "in your face" massive porkulus spending has been the straw that broke the camels back. It's scary. It's shocking. It is totally out of control. And it is the attitude with which it has been done.
Our employees in DC have forgotton which side of the checkbook they are on. They have embezzled the company funds to fund their own little party (not a political reference). This "we won" and "you need to get over it" attitude is not what we expect out of adults. We expect our employees to do the job we pay them for and not steal from us. In the private sector employees who behaved in such a criminal manner would be terminated and quite possible prosecuted for their actions.
These Tea Partys are a verbal warning to our employees - "Your jobs are on the line". And speaking of Tea Partys, the one I attended in Greensboro, NC was actually orgainized by a Democrat. Not that political affiliation matters.
This is a "green" movement and we are ALL in the same boat. The drunken sailors in Washington are wanting to take the "green" out of my wallet and yours, and spend it without so much as consulting the boss (us) first.
